Charles Leonard STEVENS (1894 - 1917)
Charles was born in 1894 to George and Harriet STEVENS in Kettleburgh, Suffolk. He was 1 of 6 children and 2 of his brothers, Arthur and Ernest also died in the great war.
In 1901, Charles was 5 years old and he was living at Rook Hall Cottages in Eye with his parents and siblings. His father was a horse man on a farm. In 1908, when he was 14 years old, his mother Harriet died.
In 1908, when Charles was 13, his mother died.
In 1911 at the age of 16, he was living at Pot Ash Lane, Eye with his father and siblings. He was a Yard worker on a Farm.
Charles medal card cites that he entered service on 03 August 1915. He died on 19 April 1917 at the age of 21. Charles has a listing on the Commonwealth War Graves site, was awarded the 1915 Star, Victory and British medals. He is buried at the Gaza war cemetery in Egypt.
