Harry Henry ALGER, son of Harry ALGER (c. 1851-c. 1930) and Caroline BELL (c. 1852-c. 1931), was born c. 1875 in Palgrave, Suffolk. He appeared in the census in 1881 at Diss Road in Palgrave - 6,scholar, living with parents Harry (30, gardener) and Caroline (29), and siblings Elizabeth (7, scholar), Maryann (4, scholar), James (3), Florence (2) and Sydney (10 mos).¹ He appeared in the census in 1891 at Mount Street in Diss, Norfolk - 16, serve bricklayer, living with parents Harry (40, gardener) and Caroline (39), and siblings Elizabeth (17, stay maker), James (13, serve baker), Florence (12, scholar), Sydney (10), John Ed (9), Thomas (8) and Alice (6).²
