Individual Note

William Henry Potter was the son of Richard Potter, a London-based flute maker. On Richard's death in 1806 William inherited the family company. He gave up the firm's workshop in Johnson's Court in 1817 and worked from the family home in Pemberton Row until retiring to Bromley in the 1830s.
