MARGERY LILIAN GOODSWEN (207)

Note on Wife: Margery Lilian GOODSWEN

There are many unanswered questions about Margery and her husband Albert. Whilst the name change for Margery, as shown in the London Gazette, is almost certain as her home address is that of her father, the listing for marriage civil registration only gives the husband's surname as Amos. There is the reference to Blake-Amos for the husband, but why did Margery's name change include Blake? The marriage was also quite late in life - had the two lived together, from around 1942/43 then finally marrying? There is also the possibility that Albert was in the Navy, transferring to the Royal Army Pay Corps when invalided with ulcers - this might explain why Colchester, an army town, was their place of marriage.
