  • NOTICE is hereby given that I, MARGERY LILIAN GOODSWEN of 117 Sutton Court Road Hillingdon in the county of Middlesex a natural British born subject intend at the expiration of twenty-one days from the date of publication of this notice to assume the surname of Goodswen-Blake in lieu of my present surname of Goodswen. - Dated the 2nd day of November 1943. MARGERY LILIAN GOODSWEN (207)

Note on Husband: James Henry GOODSWEN (1)

There are references to James William rather than James Henry in some records but the other data similarities are such that these must be the same person.

Note on Husband: James Henry GOODSWEN (2)

James was a farm labourer, he looked after the farm horses on whichever farm he was working on. Constance remembered him taking her and Sybil to the cinema in Norwich, they travelled in a horse drawn farm cart. I think he and Sophia moved around in this small area of Norfolk as he could find work, until they finally settled in Tharston. In 1918 they were living at Hall Farm, then a few years later 'near Chequers', then in 1926 at Forncett Road. - Source: a family recollection.
