Anthony Thwaite
Postcard Collection

Over the past few years I have had the privilege to know Ann and Anthony Thwaite and have the highest regard for their standing in the literary world and of their knowledge of local, national and international history. Unfortunately, Anthony died on 22 April 2021. Reading his obituaries in the national newspapers I realised just how little I knew of his life, of his many achievements and life experiences. He and Ann had been based in Low Tharston for nearly fifty years. There was a big Thanksgiving Choral Evensong for Anthony in Norwich Cathedral on 10th October with an address from the former Dean of Norwich and Bishop of Wakefield, Stephen Platten, and the poet Wendy Cope read from Corinthians on Love and Ann read Anthony’s poem Silence which ends with the one word ‘Alone’.

I have a collection of local, mainly Norfolk, postcards which are displayed in Anthony’s memory.

In the places shown below the cards are listed in pages of 8.
