Raymond GRANT, son of Herbert Oscar GRANT (c. 1866-c. 1933) and Annie Maria Frances BOWELL (c. 1866-c. 1942), was born on 17 April 1891 in North Lopham, Norfolk - mother’s maiden name BOWELL. He was baptised on 16 August 1891 in North Lopham - born 17.04.1891, parents Herbert Oscar (grocer’s assistant) and Annie Maria Frances. No service record has been found for Raymond. The absent voters list shows him at the Shop House, North Lopham, 33386 L.-Cpl., 5th Wilts [Wiltshire Regiment] (brother Harry on the same list). The British Army World War I Medal Roll shows the same service, but naming the regiment as Duke of Edinburgh’s (Wiltshire) Regiment. He died on 28 February 1979 in Ipswich, Suffolk - civil registration of death gives birth as 17.04.1891. He had his estate probated on 25 June 1979 in Oxford, Oxfordshire - “GRANT, Raymond of 7 Sunningdale Av Ipswich Suffolk died 28 February 1979 Administration with Will Oxford 25 June. £37225. 793315124E.”
