Victor BLOOMFIELD, son of Arthur BLOOMFIELD (c. 1852-c. 1923) and Annie GRANT (1853-1940), was born on 24 July 1885 in Redgrave, Suffolk. He was baptised on 11 October 1885 in Redgrave - parents Arthur (gardener) and Ann. | Military: | The first reference found to Victor’s military service is an entry in the South Lopham Absent Voters List for 1918. He is given as “51501 Pte., 2/10th Middlesex”, living at Witney Green. A newspaper report on his 1956 Memorial Service states, “He served with the Royal Norfolks in Egypt and Palestine during the 1914-18 war.” |

MR. V. C. BLOOMFIELD
(SOUTH LOPHAM)
The funeral service was held in the Parish Church on Wednesday for Mr. Victor Charles Bloomfield, of Popes Hole, South Lopham.
Aged 71 years, Mr. Bloomfield was born at Redgrave and came to live at South Lopham as a boy, and spent most of his working life at Fersfield Hall Farm. He served with the Royal Norfolks in Egypt and Palestine during the 1914-18 war.
The Rector, the Rev. K. Rasmussen, conducted the service, with Miss K. Pearce at the organ for the hymns “Jesu Lover of my Soul” and “Abide with me.”
Family mourners were Mr. and Mrs. G. Flatman, Mr. H. Leeper, Mr. B. Leeper, Mr. and Mrs. Jay (Brome), and Mr. and Mrs. E. Bloomfield.
Mrs. H. Leeper (sister) was unable to be present.
Others at the Church were Mr. S. Leggett (Redgrave), Mrs. P. Leeper, Mr. J. D. Alston, Mr. F. Rivett, Mr. J. Pulfer, Flt-Lt. C. Hardy-James and Mrs. Hardy-James, Mr. W. Gooch and Mrs. A. M. Hoskins (representing Bressingham Silver Thread Club), Mrs. R. Hoskins (Magpie), Mrs. Garnham, Mrs. Pitches, Mrs. Bond, Mr. S. Scott, Mr. A. Inkpen, Mr. and Mrs. I. Bartram and Mrs. Carrison.
Among the floral tributes were those from his workmates at Hall Farm, members and friends “Magpie” darts team, South Lopham “Crown” Thrift Club, and the Bressingham Silver Thread Club. |
