At our next quarter-sessions, (to be held on Monday) there are 16 prisoners for trial, 16 different plans for the proposed new gaol to be inspected, and much other business, which is expected to occupy the attention of the Magistrates nearly three days.

On Saturday last Isaac Turner, of Rickinghall, was committed to Ipswich gaol, charged with stealing, driving away, and selling 5 pigs, the property of Mr. James Smith, tanner, of that parish. By the activity of Mr. Smith, jun. the offender was apprehended at Colchester, but not before he had disposed of the pigs to a butcher, who had killed, and paid Turner for them.

EVIDENCE OF BOUNDARIES.
THE Commissioner for the above Inciosure hereby gives Notice, that he intends to hold a Meeting on Thursday the 18th day of January 1816, at Ten o'clock in the Forenoon, at the Crown Inn, at Botesdale, for the purpose of receiving and hearing any further evidence that shall be produced to him respecting the Boundaries between the said Parishes of Rickinghall Superior, Rickinghall inrerior, and Hindercley, and any adjoining Parish, of which all parties interested are desired to take Notice. Dated this 26th day of December 1815.

CORONATION FESTIVITIES

The Coronation of his Majesty {George IV} was celebrated at Botesdale with every demonstration of joy. A subscnption of more than 30l. {£30 - today worth about £1,800} was raised in the three parishes of Botesdale and the two Rickinghalls, and distributed amongst all the poor. A handsome treat was given to the children of the Sunday School; and most of the principal Inhabitants dined together at the Crown Inn, where many loyal and constitutional toasts were drank, and the day was spent with perfect unanimity.

On Friday last a man in the employ of J. Amys, Esq. of Rickinghall, was passing through Finningham, with a waggon-load of coals, riding on the fore-board, when in descending a hill, he fell off, and the wheel passing over him, broke both his thighs.

Suffolk Institute of Archaeology and Natural History {founded in 1848, is Suffolk's largest and oldest archaeological and historical society, going to this day}.
On Thursday last the members of this Institute set out upon their annual excursion in quest of matters of antiquarian interest, and a more charming day could not have been selected. The early morning looked somewhat threatening, but the aspect of the weather gradually improved, and the travellers were enabled to make a most enjoyable pilgrimage to the border parishes of Wattisfield, Rickinghall Inferior and Superior, Botesdale, and Redgrave. The Bury St. Edmund’s contingent, numbering about a dozen members, left the Angel Hotel at ten o’clock, under the charge of Mr. Dewing, and journeyed pleasantly to Wattisfield, untroubled by dust, and with the heat of the summer sun tempered by passing clouds. On every hand were seen the husbandmen busily ingathering the fruits of the earth, and the promising appearance of the crops and the splendid harvest weather were subjects of congratulatory remark.
