Ann LANCHESTER (c. 1866- ). Ann was born c. 1866 in Fersfield.⁶ She appeared in the census in 1871 at The Street in Fersfield - 5, scholar, living with parents Walter (40, agricultural labourer) and Mary (38), and brothers Henry (8, scholar) and James (2).³

James LANCHESTER (1868-c. 1944). James was born on 21 Aug 1868 in Fersfield.⁷ He appeared in the census in 1871 at The Street in Fersfield - 2, living with parents Walter (40, agricultural labourer) and Mary (38), and siblings Henry (8, scholar) and Ann (5, scholar).³ He was baptised on 30 Nov 1877 in Fersfield.⁸ He appeared in the census in 1881 at Bateses Lane in Fersfield - 12, farm labourer, living with parents Walter (47, farm labourer) and Mary 45), and brothers Horace (9, scholar) and Herbert (7, scholar).⁴ He appeared in the census in 1891 at Bates Lane in Fersfield - 20, agricultural labourer, living with parents Walter (58, agricultural labourer) and Mary (58), and brothers Harry (27, agricultural labourer), Herbert (16, agricultural labourer) and William (12, scholar).⁵ He and Frances Maria BRIGGS had marriage banns published on 15 Sep 1895 in Kenninghall. - other dates were 22.09.1895 and 29.09.1895.⁹ James married Frances Maria BRIGGS on 1 Oct 1895 in Hargham, Norfolk - both fathers were labourers. The marriage was witnessed by Horace LANCHESTER and Eliza Jane LANCHESTER. The ceremony was conducted by Rev. W W TYLER.^10,11 He appeared in the census in 1901 at Lodge Farm Cottage in Kenninghall - 32, teamster on farm, living with wife Frances (25) and sons Robert (1) and Leonard (8 mos).¹² He appeared in the census in 1911 at Kenninghall Lodge in Kenninghall - 41, horseman on farm, living with wife Frances Maria (35) and children Leonard (10, scholar), Frederick G (8), Charles Biggs (6), Hilda Mary (5), Alfred (3), Norman Thomas (2), James (1) and Albert Edward (4 mos) - 14 children to couple, 10 still living.¹³ In 1919 the Electoral Register showed him living at Diss Road, Kenninghall, Norfolk. In 1925 the Electoral Register showed him living at The Street, Fersfield, Norfolk. In 1931 the Electoral Register showed him living at Hall Cottages, Fersfield, Norfolk - qualification by occupation and residency. James was recorded on the 1939 Register living at Lodge Cottages in Fersfield. - agricultural labourer, b. 21.08.1868.¹⁴ James died c. 1944.¹⁵

Horace LANCHESTER (1872-1954). Horace was born on 11 Jun 1872 in Fersfield.^16,17 He was baptised on 14 Apr 1878 in Fersfield.¹⁸ He appeared in the census in 1881 at Bates Lane in Fersfield - 9, scholar, living with parents Walter (47, farm labourer) and Mary 45), and brothers James (12, farm labourer) and Herbert (7, scholar).⁴ He appeared in the census in 1891 at Millway Farm Longs Lane in Palgrave, Suffolk - 19, horseman, a lodger in the household of William BLOOMFIELD (44, yardman) and his family.¹⁹ He and Eliza Jane SHELDRAKE had marriage banns published on 23 Sep 1894 in Kenninghall, the marriage banns were read by Rev. W W TYLER. - other dates were 30.09.1894 and 07.10.1894, bride from Diss.²⁰ Horace married Eliza Jane SHELDRAKE on 10 Oct 1894 in Hargham.^21,22 He appeared in the census in 1901 at Bury Road in Palgrave - 29, horseman on farm, living with wife Eliza (29) and sons Horace G (5) and Frederick N (11 mos).²³ He appeared in the census in 1911 at Chase's Farm Bury Road in Palgrave - 38, working farm bailiff, living with wife Eliza (38), and children Frederick (10, scholar) and May (5).²⁴ He was recorded on the 1939 Register living at Bates Lane in Fersfield. - labourer, b. 11.06.1872.¹⁶ Horace died on 17 Oct 1954 in Fersfield.^25,26 He was buried on 21 Oct 1954 in Fersfield. - aged 82 years.²⁷ Horace had his estate probated on 30 Nov 1954 in Norwich, Norfolk - "LANCHESTER Horace of Bates-lane Fersfield Bressingham Norfolk died 17 October 1954 Probate Norwich 30 November to Mary Jane Lanchester spinster. Effects £604 13s. 4d.".²⁶

The marriage was witnessed by Robert COLLINS and Jane DOWNING.²⁹

William LANCHESTER (c. 1879- ). William was born c. 1879 in Fersfield. He appeared in the census in 1891 at Bates Lane in Fersfield - 12, scholar, living with parents Walter (58, agricultural labourer) and Mary (58), and brothers Harry (27, agricultural labourer), James (20, agricultural labourer) and Herbert (16, agricultural labourer).⁵
