There is some confusion around the records of Emily Smith. A marriage is shown for 1851 to Edward HARWIN who by 1891 is shown as a widower. The 1891, 1901 and 1911 Census returns show an Emily WISEMAN married to an Edward WISEMAN; in 1891 with sons Herbert WISEMAN and John WISEMAN; in 1901 with daughter Minnie HARWIN and her son Earl HARWIN, and brother John SMITH; in 1911 with son John HARWIN and a grandson Earl HARWIN. All the offspring correspond exactly to those where Edward HARWIN was the father in earlier Census returns. The brother in the 1901 Census would confirm her maiden name. There is, so far, no record of a divorce from Edward George HARWIN or a marriage to Edward WISEMAN. It would be reasonable to assume that Emily is the same person given as married to Edward HARWIN and Edward WISEMAN.
