“Manor of Tharston Be it remembered that on the fourth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty six John Johnson of Langley in the County of Norfolk farmer and Samuel Alexander of Kirby Cane in the said County farmer and Elizabeth his wife they or one of them in being copyhold tenants or tenant of the said Manor come before me William Dewing Gentleman Deputy Steward of the said Manor sufficiently authorized by John Chambers Esquire known steward of the courts of the said Manor and out of court according to the custom of the said Manor (She the said Elizabeth being first solely and secretly examined by me the said Deputy Steward and freely consenting) surrendered out of their and each and every of their hands into the hands of the Lord and Lady of the said Manor by the Hands of me the said deputy steward by the Rod in the presence of Robert Francis and Willian Phillippo two credible persons and attesting the same all and singular the messuages lands tenements and hereditaments whatsoever of them the said John Johnson and Samuel Alexander and Elizabeth his wife and or either of them holden by ????? or copy of ????? Roll of the said Manor with their and every of their Rights as Members and appurtenances whatsoever, And the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders thereof and also all of the estate Right Tithe Interest use First Right and title of Dower Equity and Benefit of of Redemption Property claim and demand whatsoever of them the said John Johnson and Samuel Alexander and Elizabeth his wife and or either of them of in or to the said Premises or any part or parcel thereof to the to the sole only and absolute use and Behsof? of Joseph Lee of Hapton in the said County of Norfolk farmer and of his heirs and assigns for ever without any manner of condition whatsoever.” Signed by John Johnson, Samuel Alexander, Elizabeth Alexander, taken on the day and year above before me William Dewing Depity Steward in the presence of Robert Francis and William Phillippo.
