DFHG Meetings

The following are scheduled meetings with speaker/subject details:

17 Nov 2021 - “HOUSE DETECTIVE – Researching the History of Your Home”. Speaker Stephen Poulter is the author of a number of local history books, researching the history of a 17th century cottage over 300 years. The processes involved will enable anyone to set out on their own journey of discovery. Diss Bowls Club, Fair Green. Doors open at 1.45 p.m. and talk starts at 2 p.m. Cost £3 per member - £6 per visitor, includes refreshments.

15 Dec 2021 - CHRISTMAS MEETING – DFHG Members only

19 Jan 2022 - “The Unsavoury Tale of Elijah Snelling from Tivetshall” (Nick Woods) - Diss Bowls Club. 1.45 for 2 p.m.

12 Feb 2022 - “The Dereham Zepplin Raid” (Steve Smith) - Diss Bowls Club. 1.45 for 2 p.m.

16 Mar 2022 - Identifying and Dating Victorian Photographs (Tom Doig) - Diss Bowls Club. 1.45 for 2 p.m.

Past meetings:

20 Oct 2021 - “THE WIDOW KETT” - Alice Kett, in costume, tells us the story of her husband Robert who was hanged as a rebellious traitor in 1549. Diss Bowls Club, Fair Green. Doors open at 1.30 p.m. and talk starts at 2 p.m. Cost £3 per member - £5 per visitor, includes refreshments.

08 Sep 2021 - Our free house meetings are now at an end and we will be re-starting our regular house meetings with a Theme – the cost is £5, including tea/coffee and home made cakes. The first will be at Wendy’s house in Roydon at 2 p.m. on Wednesday 8th September. The Theme will be “Show and Tell”- tell about the research progress you have made over these last months and see what others have done. As always space is limited so please book your place as soon as possible.
