| Military: | Sidney enlisted at Eye, Suffolk in 1914 - Private 21288, 8th Battalion Bedfordshire Regiment. He died on 26 September 1915 in France - killed in action at the Battle of Loos in the abortive attack on Hulluch. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission grave registration entry for Sidney was “WALLIS, Pte. Sidney C., 21288. 8th Bn. Bedfordshire Regt. 26th Sept., 1915. Age 24. Husband of Florence Barbara Baxter (formerly Wallis), of Black Cottages, Redgrave, Diss.” Sidney is commemorated at Loos Memorial - Panel 41. |
